Classical Turns is a Latin and Greek translation service run by Dr D.J. Butterfield, Fellow in Classics (i.e. the Ancient Greek and Roman world) at Queens' College in the University of Cambridge, where he teaches the languages and literature of Ancient Greece and Classical Rome. As a Cambridge undergraduate he won various prizes for translation and composition, including seven Sir William Browne Medals for Latin and Greek verse composition, the second highest total since these annual prizes were founded in 1775. He has over a dozen years' experience working with Latin and Ancient Greek, and has published translations and compositions in these two languages, both in prose and Classical verse. His career as a professional Latinist has put him in contact not only with Classical scholars around the world but also with a broad range of people who have sought help with translation, naming and branding within a Classical context. Classical Turns has dealt with hundreds of projects over a vast range, and thrives on the most difficult requests, whether it is producing translations for Latin Scrabble, curious Latin tattoos or academic projects.
